U-Turn for Christ Oregon is a non-denominational ministry designed to help restore to wholeness men who are suffering from substance abuse, and for them to once again become healthy members of their families and society,
Men come to the house, situated on an acre in the wooded area of Gold Hill, Oregon in the majestic Rogue River Valley. The peaceful, serene surroundings within walking distance to the Rogue River, help to clear the mind so that the men can concentrate on who they are to God and who He is to them. The house is about 3000 sq. ft. with living quarters in bunk style. All meals and snacks are provided in first phase.
The days consist of prayer time, actively working in the community 6 days a week, 8 hours a day, Bible studies and church services at different local area churches including Applegate Christian Fellowship, Gold Valley Christian Fellowship, Edgewater Christian Fellowship and Calvary Chapel Grants Pass. Physical fitness is important too and encouraged. There is time in the afternoon for hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities in the awesomeness of God's nature.
The big difference that U-Turn for Christ provides is that the men are put in real life situations through working and participating in the community. When stresses, frustrations and the desire to escape occurs, the men are taught how to deal with these strong emotions through relying on God and His strength instead of using drugs and alcohol to anesthetize themselves.
The cost for the program is $1,000. which includes all room and board and is a minimal commitment to the 1st phase which is 60 days. Maximum success is achieved by completing the 2nd phase also, which is another 6 month commitment. Cost for 2nd phase is $500 per month which includes rent. Assistance to help obtain employment during the 2nd phase is a priority. During the 2nd phase the men help with the chores and yard work, just like home!
